A Utah Jazz security guard almost unintentionally gave the home team an advantage before Monday’s game.

Before the Toronto-Utah game tipped off, Raptors coach Nick Nurse was headed toward his team bench in Vivint Arena when a security guard intervened. Nurse was asked if he had a ticket, according to @Ewingsports.

Unfortunately for the Jazz, Nurse was eventually allowed access to his team. He then coached the Raptors to an impressive 111-102 victory over the Jazz on the second night of a back-to-back and at the end of a five-game Western road trip.

Several NBA fans tweeted at @Ewingsports, reminiscing about how Raptors president Masai Ujiri got into a scuffle with a Golden State security guard after not being allowed to celebrate on-court with this team after Toronto won the 2019 championship.

A GOOD FIT

Danny Ainge’s youngest son is enjoying his playing time at his new school, which is on the other side of the country from where he started his collegiate career at Utah State.

Crew Ainge is tearing it up for Babson College, a private school in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He’s averaging 11.7 points on 52.9% shooting and is playing twice as much as he did for the Aggies before his LDS mission in Louisiana.

“Crew has certainly been, I don’t know if it’s the secret sauce, but he’s certainly the energy guy behind us,” Babson coach Stephen Brennan told the Boston Globe. “We all play off of that. We all need that. That compete level, it’s just a different level than a lot of guys I coach. I think that’s been contagious.”

The younger Ainge lives in what he calls “the honeymoon suite” of his parents’ home with his wife.

“That’s another reason why Babson had the trump card,” Crew said. “Free rent.”

BIG FAN

Monday’s result wasn’t what BYU wanted, but at least Cosmo got some fun news. ESPN reporter Andy Katz pronounced his love for the Cougars’ favorite viral mascot.
