One of new Utah quarterback Devon Dampier’s favorite targets at New Mexico is also headed to Salt Lake City.
Ryan Davis, who will have one season of eligibility remaining, announced Monday that he will transfer to Utah.
Who is Ryan Davis?
Davis is a 5-foot-11, 176-pound receiver from Roswell, Georgia, who’s spent the past two seasons at New Mexico after three years at UAB.
Last year, he was coached by Utah’s new offensive coordinator, Jason Beck, and he had a breakout season with 54 catches for 747 yards and three touchdowns.
All three of those numbers were career highs for Davis, who finished the season as New Mexico’s second-leading receiver.
How will Ryan Davis fit into Utah’s plans?
Davis is the 14th transfer addition for Utah so far this offseason, and he joins fellow wide receiver transfer Creed Whittemore, previously at Mississippi State.
The Utes also received a commitment from former Tulsa wide receiver Joseph Williams, though he reportedly flipped and signed with Colorado.
Utah will have an overhaul of its receiving group, with Dorian Singer, Money Parks and Munir McClain exhausting their eligibility and others like Damien Alford, Mycah Pittman and Jett Meine hitting the transfer portal.
Zacharyus Williams (10 catches for 101 yards in 2024) and Daidren Zipperer (eight catches for 122 yards) are the top returning wide receivers for Utah.
Davis has the added benefit of playing the past two seasons with Dampier, who is expected to be the favorite for Utah’s starting quarterback position.
