Despite knocking off No. 10 Texas Tech this past weekend, BYU remains on the outside looking in for the AP Top 25 rankings.

For the second straight week, the Cougars went unranked in the latest poll, this time receiving 18 points from voters as the third team outside of the top 25.

In the preseason rankings, BYU had opened at No. 8.

Five Big 12 teams appeared in Monday’s poll — No. 2 Arizona, No. 5 Houston, No. 7 Iowa State, No. 14 Kansas and No. 16 Texas Tech.

Utah State, fresh off of winning the Mountain West regular-season title, received two votes.

BYU now heads to Kansas City for the Big 12 tournament, where the 10-seeded Cougars will face Kansas State on Tuesday in the first round.
