Utah has added its second commitment of the week in Texas cornerback Jaden Bibbs, who announced his pledge to Morgan Scalley’s team on Tuesday evening.
The three-star prospect had offers from a variety of Big 12 schools, including Houston, BYU, Baylor, Arizona, TCU and Kansas State.
He narrowed his options to Utah, Houston and Baylor before picking the Utes over the in-state schools.
Utah was one of the first schools to offer the 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect, which made an impact on his decision.
“It definitely played a big factor, for sure. (Cornerbacks coach Sharrieff) Shah, he believed in me from the start. He was one of the first to pull the trigger on me, so that stood out to me for sure,” Bibbs said during his live commitment on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s YouTube channel.
Bibbs is rated an 88 by Rivals, which ranks him as the No. 61 cornerback nationally. Per Rivals, Bibbs is the highest-rated prospect in Utah’s 2027 class so far.
In his junior season at Coppell High in 2025, Bibbs registered 43 tackles, a sack, nine pass deflections and two interceptions.
“I play relentless and I’m not scared to get down and get dirty,” Bibbs said.
Utah’s history of being a winning program drew Bibbs to Salt Lake City.
“The main thing for me is that they’re winning, and I like to win. Coach Shah, he’s sent a lot of corners to the league and I feel like I can be one of those corners, for sure,” Bibbs said.
Bibbs is the 14th prospect in Scalley’s inaugural recruiting class and the third cornerback to commit to Utah in the 2027 cycle, joining Darrod Jacobs and Taylan Patterson.
