THOMPSON SPRINGS, Grand County — One man was killed and another injured in a crash not far from the Utah-Colorado border Wednesday morning.

The two men were driving east on I-70 about 7 miles from the state line when the car went off the road to the left, overcorrected, then went off the road to the right, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The car slid sideways down an embankment and rolled multiple times before coming to a rest upside down, police said.

The crash happened just after 9 a.m.

One of the men was ejected from the car and died on scene. The other was taken to a hospital in Grand Junction with minor injuries.

The name of the deceased man has not been released.

Investigators believe speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
