WEST VALLEY CITY — A man wanted by the FBI was arrested following a chase with West Valley police on Wednesday.

About 10:20 p.m., a West Valley officer attempted to make a traffic stop near 2900 W. 3100 South, said police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku.

The driver sped away and a 20-minute chase that went along state Route 201 and onto I-15 ensued, she said.

The fleeing suspect got off the freeway at 600 North and tried to escape by driving through several residential streets, according to police. Near 300 North and 900 West, a Salt Lake City officer was able to spike the car’s tires, but the car kept going.

At North Temple, the fleeing vehicle spun out due to its tires being flat, Vainuku said. The driver then got out of his car and ran but was chased down a short time later by police and arrested.
