VERMILLION, Sevier County — One person was killed Thursday in a near head-on collision on state Route 24 near Vermillion.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries, police said.

At about noon, a northbound Chevrolet pickup truck crossed the centerline near the junction with state Route 259 and hit a southbound Geo Tracker.

The driver of the Geo Tracker was not wearing a seat belt and died instantly, according to Utah Highway Patrol. Additional details about the driver were not released.

The truck rolled at least once and ended up on its roof, UHP reported.

The driver of the truck, who was wearing a seat belt, is cooperating with state troopers. Investigators do not suspect impairment. The crash remains under investigation.
