RIVERDALE, Weber County — Ten felony criminal charges were filed Friday against a Bountiful man accused of having an illegal sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
Police believe the girl was also selling pictures and videos of their sexual encounters for money, according to charging documents.
Keaton Beckstrand, 29, was charged Friday in 2nd District Court with seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; and three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony.
Beckstrand was arrested Wednesday night in Riverdale after police found him and the teenage girl in a vehicle in a business parking lot undressed, according to charging documents.
Officers soon learned that Beckstrand was also arrested on April 18 after police caught him and the same girl in a car in Harrisville, Weber County, the charges state.
“Keaton ultimately admitted to having a 7-month-long relationship with (the girl) that was sexual in nature,” according to the charges, which also say Beckstrand admitted to having sex with the girl “more times than he can count because he loves her.”
Police say the 15-year-old girl was uncooperative with investigators.
Beckstrand agreed to show police sexually explicit videos and pictures of himself and the girl on his phone, the charges state. He also said the girl sold the photographs online and that they both used the money for food, gasoline and car repairs, according to the charges.
“Both phones were seized and a search warrant will be applied for and executed at a later date. I’m certain that the search warrant will reveal further evidence where more charges will follow as Keaton’s phone was minimal as far as data due to Keaton’s admission to deleting images and correspondences with (the girl) on a regular basis,” investigators wrote in charging documents.
