LAYTON — Police are investigating the discovery of a woman’s body in Kays Creek in Layton Tuesday.

At about 5 p.m., police received a call from a man who thought he could see the body of a woman in the creek near the intersection of Dawson and Gentile Street. Upon arrival, police confirmed it was a human body — however, who she is and how she got there is still a mystery.

“At this point we are trying to confirm her identity, and find out how she got there and what happened,” said Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman. “There’s really no obvious reason or explanation why she would end up where she is, so it is suspicious at this point.”

A trail runs by the creek where the woman was found, and Lyman is asking anyone who was in the area, or has any relevant information, to call Layton police.
