SALT LAKE CITY — Two men who were 17 when they were charged as adults with murder in separate cases have been transferred into the Salt Lake County Jail.
Andrew Whatcott, of Herriman, and Deivi Perez Prado Jr., of West Valley City, each turned 18 recently and were moved from juvenile detention into the Salt Lake County Jail this week.
Andrew Whatcott, who was 17 when he allegedly shot three people near Tanner Park, killing one, was recently transferred to the Salt Lake County Jail after turning 18.

Whatcott is accused of shooting two men and a woman on Oct. 18 near Tanner Park, 2695 E. Heritage Way. Domnyk Marez, 25, later died from his injuries. Whatcott was charged in 3rd District Court with murder, and six counts of discharge of firearm causing serious injury, all first-degree felonies; and possession of a firearm by a restricted person and obstruction of justice, both second-degree felonies.
Whatcott allegedly opened fire on the car the trio was sitting in following a disagreement over a low-level drug deal. He turned 18 on Feb. 18. His next court hearing is scheduled for April 27.
Deivi Perez Prado Jr., who was 17 when he allegedly shot and killed a man in West Valley City in May 2020, was recently moved into the Salt Lake County Jail after turning 18.

Prado was 17 when he shot and killed Lewis Orlando Jensen, 18, during a confrontation between two groups on May 16 at Kings Pointe Park, 1330 W. Rothchild Drive (3665 South), according to charging documents.
The two sides met to settle an undisclosed conflict, according to police.
The next court hearing for Prado, who turned 18 in January, is scheduled for April 12.
