An aircraft crashed in the Saltair parking lot on the edge of the Great Salt Lake Monday night in Magna, Unified police confirmed.
At about 7:35 p.m., Unified Fire Authority received a call about a plane crash near Saltair. The pilot, a man in his 50s whose identity was not released Monday night, was taken to the hospital via helicopter.
Police say the man was the only occupant in the aircraft. His condition was unknown Monday.
Police initially reported the aircraft was an ultralight, a small, single occupant aircraft that does not require a license to operate, but later confirmed it was some kind of paraglider or paramotor.
The exact type of aircraft involved in the crash, and whether it was motorized or not, was not clear Monday night.
