A funeral is scheduled Wednesday for portly character actor Richard Castellano, who was nominated for Tony and Academy awards for his performances in the comedy "Lovers and Other Strangers." He was 55.

Castellano, who specialized in playing overweight characters and was noted for his portrayals of Italian-Americans on stage, screen and television, died Saturday of heart failure at his home in North Bergen, his family said.Castellano, who won praise for his portrayal of the mobster Clemenza in "The Godfather," Francis Coppola's 1972 film, was nominated for the stage and movie awards in 1968 and 1970 for his performances in productions of "Lovers and Other Strangers."
