The Persian Gulf war has created a Carnival controversy in New Orleans.

Woody Harrelson, who plays the slow-witted bartender on "Cheers," was all set to be grand marshal of the Krewe of Endymion parade - one of the biggest spectacles of the city's Carnival festivities - but the organizers want him to step down because of his anti-war feelings.Harrelson was seen at a peace rally in Los Angeles recently and he said the Endymion parade captain also was concerned about his association with Ron Kovic, the disabled Vietnam veteran whose anti-war work inspired the movie "Born on the Fourth of July."
