The family of a Laotian boy who was slain after police left him with Jeffrey L. Dahmer sued the city Friday, alleging police racism was to blame for the death.
The lawsuit said the decision by three patrolmen to leave Konerak Sinthasomphone, 14, with Dahmer resulted from a history of discriminatory practices in the city.Police were called to Dahmer's neighborhood May 27 to investigate a report of a naked, bleeding Asian male on the sidewalk. Witnesses said they told officers the boy appeared to have been drugged and molested, according to the lawsuit, filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
The three officers decided to leave Sinthasomphone with Dahmer after accepting Dahmer's word the boy was his 19-year-old lover who became drunk and wandered onto the street, the lawsuit said.
