Bill Cody, the last surviving grandchild of famed frontiersman Buffalo Bill Cody, died Friday at his home in Cody, Wyo. He was 79.
Cody, who had his name legally changed from Bill Garlow, had suffered from cancer, but the cause of death wasn't immediately known, said Tim Powers of Ballards Funeral Home.Flags were at half staff at the Buffalo Bill Historic Center in Cody, a northwestern Wyoming town of about 6,700 people.
"It's the end of an era," said Paul Fees, senior curator. "Bill Cody was the last of the family that knew their patriarch."
