Ruth Mary Kruger Nelson, 76, died Thursday, October 21, 1993 at her home in Paradise, Utah.
One of seven children, she was born February 18, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Julius Edmund and Martha Lena Otto Kruger.Ruth Kruger graduated from high school with academic honors and a departmental award in homemaking for her skills as a seamstress. She completed a night school course and worked as an x-ray technician for doctors in the Salt Lake area until she married Rene' Ensign Nelson August 17, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her husband was an officer during World War II and when the war was over, they made their home on a small 27-acre farm in Granger, Utah. In 1956, they moved with their eight children to the farm in Paradise, Utah where that location has remained "home."
Ruth Nelson was very active in the LDS Church, where for years she served faithfully in the Primary organizations in many stake and ward callings. She and her husband Rene' served a mission in Houston, Texas in 1981. Ruth was a faithful, compassionate visiting teacher and at the time of her death was Visiting Teacher Co-ordinator in the Paradise Ward.
A lady of simplicity, she valued most the accomplishments perpetuated within the walls of her home as a dedicated wife and mother.
She is survived by seven of her eight children: Nadine Bushman (four children, one grandchild) of American Fork, Utah; Dr. Thomas Nelson (nine children) of Manhattan, Kansas; Kent Nelson (four children) of Salt Lake City, Utah; JaNet Watkins (two children) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Lee Nelson (seven children) of Paradise, Utah; Naomi Stephenson (five children) of Draper, Utah; and Marsha Weight (three children) of Centerville, Utah. Her husband, Rene', passed away September 29, 1992. Also preceding her in death is a grandson, Wayne Ormond Nelson, on November 18, 1989; and her daughter, Jane, on March 28, 1974. One brother, Alma Kruger, and two sisters, Martha Nelson and Helen Harrison, remain in her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Monday in the Paradise Ward Chapel with Bishop Max Delgado conducting. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, Sunday, 6-8 p.m. and at the Paradise Ward from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial, Paradise Cemetery.
