Sheplers Westernwear, which calls itself the world's largest Western-wear and catalog company, will open a 17,770 square-foot store in the Family Center at Midvalley in Bennion Saturday, according to Lou Cohen, president.

This will bring to 20 the number of Sheplers stores in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and now Utah, plus the catalog center in Wichita, Kan., Sheplers' base. The store was leased through Bob Moore and Robert Cooper of Consolidated Realty Group. Sheplers is owned and operated by its management group and last year had nearly $150 million in sales.

After visiting Utah earlier this year, Cohen said company officials were convinced the Salt Lake market has enormous potential and "we are looking forward to becoming valued members of the business community."
