"We love you and will miss you" Doyle Reed Thorn, age 52 died July 30, 1994 due to injuries sustained in a helicopter accident while involved in a search and rescue mission.
Born April 29, 1942 in Brigham City, Utah, son of Leland Eugene and Lois Reeve Thorne. Married Lucille Vance December 16, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active member of the LDS Church where he served in many positions. Served mission to the New Zealand Auckland Mission. Served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and flew many missions in the Viet Nam War where he was decorated for his valiant service. Received Bachelor and Master degrees from Utah State University. Employed by the Utah Highway Patrol. At time of his death was serving as a pilot with the DPS. He was an avid reader, genealogist and cherry farmer. He loved his family and serving others.Survived by his wife, Lucille, South Jordan; two sons and two daughters, Kameron Reed (Jennifer) Thorne, Salt Lake City; Devan Spencer Thorne, Kimberlee Dianne Thorne, both of South Jordan, Krista (Gerry) Mayne, Rifle, Colorado; mother; brothers, Richard (Linda) Thorne, North Ogden; Dr. Brent M. (Janis) Thorne, Richfield; Jeff R. (Sherry) Thorne, Brighham City. Preceded in death by father and sister, Faye Andrew.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Glenmoor Stake Center, 4200 West Skye Drive (9800 South) where friends may call Friday 5-8 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. Under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
