Maude Ione Rees Harris, 86, died Saturday, September 10, 1994 at the Box Elder County Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1908 in Cherry Creek, Idaho, a daughter of Phillip Morgan and Nellie Brantzeg Rees. She married Virgil Cromwell Harris, April 10, 1929, Salt Lake LDS Temple; he died March 1985.Mrs. Harris was reared in Cherry Creek and was a graduate of Malad High School. She had lived in Portage all her married life. For many years, she worked as a correspondent for the Leader Publishing Co.
As a member of the LDS Church she served as a Relief Society and Primary president, Relief Society teacher, organist and visiting teacher.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter and their spouses: Reid Harris, Pocatello, Idaho; Carol and Lee Pettingill, Zillah, Wash.; Phil R. and Freda Harris, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, one sister, Marion Rees, Phil Rees, both West Valley City; Gloria Gleed, Malad, Idaho. Preceded in death by one sister, one brother and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Sept. 16, 1994, 1 p.m. at the Portage LDS Ward Chapel, 8910 West 25800 North Portage with Bishop Bud Lee Knudsen officiating. Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 No. 1st East, Tremonton and Friday 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at the Church. Interment in the Portage Cemetery.
