Dain Craig and Peggy Ijams of KSFI (alias "FM-100") are the most popular morning radio team along the Wasatch Front. For the age 12-plus, 18-34 and 25-54 listening groups, "Dain and Peggy" attract more radio listeners than anyone else, based on the summer Ar-bi-tron Co. ratings.
For example, for adults 24-54, the KSFI morning team grabs 10.6 percent of all listeners.Since they started on the air in the fall of 1994, Craig and Ijams have always been No. 1 for adult listeners. Lately they've also been the top choice among young adult listeners, ages 18-34.
While it may be true that the station's easy-listening format is KSFI's main draw, these DJs know when to quit talking and play more music. Their show is also "G" rated and provides a balance of news and weather.
Simmons Family Inc., which owns and operates KSFI, KRSP and KDYL, is obviously not only pleased with the continued No. 1 performance of "FM-100" but also with sister station KRSP (FM-103.5). After taking over the station in 1992 and eventually pur-chasing it, FM-103.5 has steadily risen in the ratings and might overtake KSFI in the near future.
KSL's Grant Nielsen and Amanda Dickson continue to be steady on AM-1160 and hold second among adult listeners, ages 25-54. (However, Dickson will leave KSL to work for a Salt Lake law firm next month.)
Among some other morning-team observations, "Kidd Cassidy" of KKAT (FM-101.9) is proving a strong contender. After coming to Salt Lake City from Las Vegas last May, Cassidy has increased the KKAT morning-show ratings for listeners ages 18-34 from 7.5 percent last spring to 8.4 percent in the summer. Dawn Kennedy and Rick Shane are Cassidy's sidekicks.
For all ages, 12-plus, Cassidy has also increased KKAT's morning share from 5.4 to 6.2 percent.
Another big improvement in morning radio this past three months has come from KBEE's (FM-98.7) "Wakeup Club." Team members Mick Mackay, Rebecca Marshall and Alen Kabel have increased their audience share for age 18-34 listeners from 6.2 to 8.5 percent. That's good enough for fourth place behind KSFI, KRSP and KKAT.
It's too early to tell what ratings Jon Carter and Dan Bammes will earn on their new country station, KUBL. However, with weeks of no regular DJs on FM-93.3 until "Jon and Dan" returned to the lineup, the revamped station still ranked ninth among adult listerers and 11th among all ages.

- RATINGS CORRECTIONS - If some of the above morning show rating numbers look familiar, they should. In last week's "Radio dial," those 6-10 a.m. numbers were incorrectly listed as the basis for all the 6 a.m. to midnight station rating numbers.
Reading the right-hand instead of the left-hand column led to the mistake.
The biggest change is that KSFI is not No. 1 among listeners ages 18-34. Sister station KRSP is.
Please disregard last week's rating numbers. Here is a corrected listing:
