Jon Carter and Dan Bammes, a k a "Jon and Dan," the former "Z-93" personalities, are still living in Salt Lake County and are confident it's only a matter of time before they land local radio jobs again.

"We're just hanging out and having a good summer," Carter said. The DJs are still being paid by their former employer - now KBUL - through Sept. 21 when their contracts expire.

Carter joked the situation is like being paid to look for a job.

"There are some things in the market that look really interesting," he said, explaining he thinks the duo will land a suitable job in this market again.

"We don't want to move," Carter said.

The DJs have looked into radio jobs outside Utah but prefer the Beehive State.

"I think the opportunities will be here."

Carter also said he's seen a few homemade bumper stickers of interest lately. One stated: "Jon and Dan phone home" and another "I want my Z back."

- MORE ON RADIO LONGEVITY: After last week's look at the DJ teams with the most staying power, here's a glance at individual DJs and seniority:

- Veteran DJS: Here are the individual radio personalities from Ogden to Provo with the most years of experience:

1. 58 years: Howard Bogarte of KFAM-AM. Started out in radio at Dallas in 1937.

2. 48 years: Len Allen of KLO started at the Ogden station in 1947. (He left briefly for about nine months in the late 1980s before returning.)

3. 41 years: Arny Wheeler of KLO started at Ogden's KOPP in 1954.

4. 35 years: Gene Pack at KUER, where he's been since 1960.

- DJs with the longest stints at their stations:

1. 48 years: Len Allen, at KLO since 1947 (minus one brief absence).

2. 35 years: Gene Pack, at KUER since 1960.

3. 25 years: Country Joe Flint, at KSOP since 1970.

- CLARIFYING MORNING RADIO LONGEVITY - Last week, I took a stab at ranking the longest existing Wasatch Front radio morning teams. However, before the ink on that story was even dry, I'd already decided I missed the mark a couple of places.

- "Fisher and Todd" are the longest surviving morning radio team at the same station - almost 91/2 years. However, "Jon and Dan," even though not on the air currently, still see themselves as a team that hasn't broken up and will be back soon.

The DJs started together at KRSP in 1982 as the "Dawn Patrol" and spent about 71/2 years there before moving to FM-93.3, where they were together for another 51/2 years for a total of 13 years together.

- Bill Allred and Kerry Jackson of KXRK were ranked fifth in last week's longevity list, and that's correct if you go with same-station employment. However, "Bill and Kerry" started together at Ogden's KJQN in the mid-1980s and were together there about 51/2 years.

By October, they'll have spent two years at KXRK, bringing their total to around 71/2 years. This ranks them second- or third-longest in the market - depending on whether you count Jon and Dan.

- Also, I failed to mention Mick MacKay and Rebecca Marshall of KBEE (formerly KVRI) last week. These DJs, though other members of the "Wakeup Club" have changed several times, have been together since 1993 at FM-98.7. This could rank them as the sixth- or seventh-longest morning companionship.

- ONE-ON-ONE SPORTS acquired SportsRadio Network earlier this summer in a deal that expands it from 170 to more than 290 affiliate stations in the nation. KISN (AM-570) is among the Sports-Radio Network stations that One-On-One Sports has added to its roster.

- KXRK (alias "X-96," FM) will sponsor a 10-band concert - "The B.A. Show" - Thursday, Aug. 3, at Wolf Mountain. Tickets are on sale for $9.60 at Smith'sTix and the X-Mart. Some of the bands include Bush, Catherine Wheel, Gwen Mars, Cate and Stretch Armstrong. Howard Jones will also make a special appearance.

- KTKK (alias "K-Talk," AM-630) will feature Elbert E. Peck, editor/publisher of Sunstone Magazine, on the "Religion on the Line" program Sunday, July 30, 8-10 p.m. He will discuss the upcoming Sunstone Symposium. Program host is Steve Mayfield.
