A fast-moving fire destroyed a turn-of-the-century house in Montauk, N.Y., owned by former talk show host Dick Cavett.

The entire 2 1/2-story home, designed by architect Stanford White, was consumed in the Tuesday blaze. No one was injured, and the cause is under investigation.Cavett has had a rough month. A producer is suing him for $35 million because he left his new syndicated radio show, "The Dick Cavett Show," apparently because of depression.

Cavett left the show Jan. 20 after two weeks because of a manic-depressive episode, said Melvyn Leventhal, his lawyer. Cavett has been recovering and was to return later this month, Leventhal said last week. But the producer didn't want him back.
