A man has been sentenced to at least 23 years in prison for the killing of a teenager, pregnant with his child, who was gunned down on her school bus.
Mark Boyd, 31, paid a gunman about $4,000 to kill 15-year-old Kyunia Taylor because he feared the child would be retarded, authorities said. Taylor attended special education courses because of severely limited vision.Boyd's crime was "evil incarnate," St. Louis Circuit Judge Timothy J. Wilson said during sentencing Friday.
The girl was shot five times on her school bus on Feb. 29, 1996, and died en route to a hospital. Her premature baby, Diamond, was delivered by emergency Caesarean section but died 23 days later.
