Cincinnati has renamed a street in honor of the Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, a civil rights leader who worked with Martin Luther King Jr.

Shuttlesworth, 76, helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and led Alabama civil rights marches in the 1950s and 1960s.He was on hand Monday as city officials unveiled new Shuttlesworth Circle street signs along what had been North and South Crescent Avenues. The street is home to the Greater New Light Baptist Church, where Shuttlesworth has been pastor since the church was established 32 years ago.
