Robert Redford's latest film, "The Horse Whisperer," won't have its premiere where part of it was filmed because he was worried it would draw too big a crowd to Big Sky country. Instead he'll hold it in Provo on May 9.
Redford decided against upstaging the film's scheduled May 15 national opening in order to protect Montana's natural finery from the expected crowds, his publicist said.Some Montanans had complained that Redford's previous film, "A River Runs Through It," drew too many people to the Treasure State, overtaxing its trout streams.
Redford stars in and directs "The Horse Whisperer," which centers on a Montana wrangler who trains unruly horses with a combination of patience and whispered advice.
The movie, based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Evans, also stars Kristin Scott Thomas and Sam Neill.
