FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Utah's Amy Kofoed was selected by the San Diego Spirit with the 25th pick in the Women's United Soccer Association's draft Monday. She was one of just 32 players chosen.

Kofoed was the first pick in the fourth round.

"I am so excited," she said. "This is the opportunity of a lifetime, and it's nice to be recognized. People have heard my name, but now they will be able to put a face to the name."

In four years at Utah, Kofoed rewrote the record books. Her 43 career goals and 102 career points are U. records. Kofoed's 16 assists are second all-time only to Staci Burt, now with the WUSA's Carolina Courage.
