Les, as friends and family knew him, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 6.
Les was born on August 16, 1954 in Salt Lake City. While his departure leaves a hole in the lives for all who knew and loved him, we are all also left with the rich legacy of his life to guide us forward.
Les has an unquenchable spirit. His thirst for knowledge led him to achieve a bachelor's degree in Asian Studies and a Master's degree in International Marketing both from Brigham Young University. His mission took him to Indonesia where he again brought his hunger for knowledge. He cherished the many years he spent internationally teaching, performing and in business. He also had a natural passion for communicating, speaking many different languages including Indonesian, Japanese, Malaysian and Chinese.
Les' love for life was exemplified in the way he lived his own. He loved music. He played snare drum in the Royal Scots Bagpipe Band. He then played drums as a member of the BYU Young Ambassadors. He continued his love of music by playing on USO tours and played with several bands.
He loved the outdoors. Les was a superb skier, a competitive mountain bike rider, scuba instructor and avid hiker. He also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
He loved business. Les had been engaged in many successful international enterprises over the years. His most recent venture was named "TeamTsunami" and like a tidal wave, Les brought his colleagues along in a huge wave of enthusiasm and passion.
Always pushing the envelope, his energy was boundless and infectious. His only request was the simple phrase "Wanna'Play?"
But mostly, he loved his friends and family. Relationships were priceless to him, and he is forever dedicated to his wife Cathy of 25 years. He was survived by the loves of his life, Cathy, Mary, Janel, Lori, Lisa, Nathan, Logan, Tanner, and Kaela. In addition, he is survived by his mother and father, Gordon and Kathy Case, his brothers Jeff, Morgan and Aaron and a sister, Shannon Pay. His two sons, Mardi and Denny, preceded him in death. The many friends who mourn his passing are legion.
A viewing will be held on Friday, 12 April 2002, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at Sharon Park, 6th North and 2nd East in Orem. The interment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo. After the interment, there will be a gathering of family and friends.
