We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, friend and fishing buddy. Dad passed away peacefully October 18, 2003 at his home in Redding California.
Dad was born August 10, 1926 to Rosella Gertrude Olsen and John Brigham Matthews. Married Kathryn Ruth Owens September 20, 1945 in Piggot, Arkansas. Member of Redding 2nd Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Graduated from University of Utah. Honorably served our Country in Army Air Corps during World War II. Retired US Government Civil Service.
Survived by: wife of 58 years Ruth, Redding, CA; children: John Alan (Claudia) Matthews, Centervil1e UT; Pam Matthews, Salt Lake City, UT; Jeffrey Brent (Linda) Matthews, Pleasant Grove, UT; Barbara (Larry) Jensen, Mapleton, UT; Kevin P (Aida) Matthews, Bay Point, CA; Mark (Deanna) Matthews, Fort Worth, TX; brothers: Jim (Gleta) Matthews, Redding, CA; Perry (Betty) Matthews, St. George, UT; Neal Matthews, St. George, UT; sister: Colleen (Russ) Bender Nephi, UT; 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.
Family Services held in Redding, CA on October 23, 2003 at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel, Palo Cedro CA.
