Alan Frandsen, beloved family member, friend and business associate, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon in Murray following a brief illness. A special expression of gratitude to Dr. Michael Sossenheimer for his skilled and compassionate care.
Born and raised in Ogden, Utah, the youngest of three children of Minnie R. and Lester M. Frandsen. Alan was an avid sports fan, regardless of the sport. As a youth, Alan played championship tennis, and later in life he played golf with gusto. He graduated from the University of Utah Law School and maintained a successful law practice in Salt Lake City and Park City for over 30 years, four years of which he served as Summit County Attorney. Alan also served 30 years of active and reserve duty in the Air Force, earning his wings as a Navigator during the Korean War and retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Those of us who had the pleasure of a close association with Alan will remember him as an avid sports fan, a skilled attorney, a respected business man, a loving son, and all together a true friend, exuding a quiet, clever wit and lending a willing and helpful hand when those close to him were in need.
Alan was blessed to live a full and adventurous life. Together with his long-time best friend, Phyllis Scott, Alan traveled the globe. From Mazatlan to the Mediterranean, from the Andes to the Alps, Alan and Phyllis explored the scenery, cultures, and cuisines of the earth.
They were blessed recently to solemnize their years of friendship and love in marriage.
Alan was preceded in death by his brother L. Don Frandsen and his loving parents. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Jean, his brother Richard D. (Gwen) Frandsen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Alan's request, there will be no formal funeral proceedings, but family and friends are invited to gather for a brief Memorial Service in his honor Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 So. in Salt Lake Lake
"Until we meet again
a fondest farewell."
