Donald Whittaker 1936 ~ 2006 Donald Sears Whittaker, 69, of Orem, died October 10, 2006, at his home in Orem. He was born December 29, 1936, a son to Norman and Ruth Sears Whittaker in Salt Lake City, Utah. Don's mother passed away when he was a baby; his Aunt Marian raised him as her own for a year. From then on he was raised by his father Norman and his step mother Rose Whittaker. He married Jean Weikel on August 10, 1957, in Pomona, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. In his youth he was the Utah County Archery Champion. Donald loved hunting, hiking, and everything outdoors. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and held many callings including Camp Director and Family History Teacher. Survivors include his wife Jean, his children, Cathy (Keith) Collard, David Whittaker, Cindy (Jeff) Helgeson, Brian (Suzann) Whittaker. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson on the way. He was preceded in death by a son Mark and his only brother Norman Whittaker. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in the Vermont 2nd Ward Chapel, 400 North 400 East in Orem. Friends and family may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State Street in Orem and also Saturday one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel.
