1929: Thiokol Chemical Corp. founded.

1982: Thiokol merges with Morton-Norwich products to become Morton Thiokol Inc.

1989: Morton Thiokol splits, with Thiokol Corp. and Morton International Inc. becoming independent companies.

1998: Thiokol Corp. changes its name to Cordant Technologies Inc., with Thiokol Propulsion becoming the name for the rocket propulsion system and advanced composite materials business.

2000: Alcoa Inc. acquires Cordant Technologies Inc. and makes it (including Thiokol Propulsion) part of newly formed Alcoa Industrial Components.

2001: Alliant Techsystems acquires Alcoa's Thiokol Propulsion business.

2006: ATK Thiokol is renamed ATK Launch Systems Group.
