MAGNA — Every time former Major League Baseball pitcher Scott Eyre received a new ball cap, he would write two phrases on the inside flaps: “Work hard” and “Have fun.”

Both mantras were learned in part from Cyprus High baseball coach Bob Fratto, who coached Eyre and his brother Willie during their time at Cyprus in the 1990s.

In recognition for their success on and off the field, Scott and Willie Eyre were inducted into the Cyprus High Hall of Fame during a recent ceremony.

Scott Eyre was drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1991 and went on to play for the Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs and the Philadelphia Phillies, where he won a World Series ring.
