The Salt Lake Temple, one of the iconic symbols of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has a virtual presence in a popular video game.
Teaguer Czubak, an LDS Church member, designed the virtual version of the temple in "Minecraft" and posted a YouTube video of the model on Feb. 25.
While playing the video game with his brother, Cruzbak had the idea to design Temple Square in "Minecraft."
“My mission was online, and I’d been missing that kind of work, so I guess that is what lit the spark,” Czubak wrote in an email interview.
Czubak created the model over the course of about three weeks. Before he constructed the temple in "Minecraft," he took pictures of Temple Square and mapped out the design on paper.
Czubak plans to create the rest of Temple Square in the near future and upload videos of the buildings to his Mormon Minecraft YouTube channel.
