The last round of competition for the five teen finalists in the 2016 Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition was performing a piano concerto movement with the Utah Symphony at Abravanel Hall on Tuesday, according to a news release.

Fifty-three young pianists from 12 countries competed June 21-28 in the 2016 Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition in Salt Lake City. They performed two 25- to 30-minute solo recitals in two rounds, before the finalists were announced.

Jae Hong Park, a 17-year-old from Korea, was named Tuesday as the Gina Bachauer Gold Medalist and received $15,000, which was donated by Norman C. and Barbara L. Tanner.

Chaeyoung Park, 18, of Korea, received the second place silver medal and $10,000 donated by Delile and Arlene Billings. The third place bronze medal went to Mao Fujita, 17, of Japan, as well as $5,000, which was donated by Thomas and Holly Holst.

Tristan Paradee, 15, from the United States, and Kaiwen Zhao, 15, from China, both received the finalist prizes of $3,000 each, which was donated by Alice Edvalson.

British pianist George Harliono was award a $1,000 judges discretionary award through the Sascha Gorodnitzki Foundation, according to the news release.

The finalists were judged on their overall performance throughout the competition, according to the news release.
