What happened: Nickelodeon and Paramount dropped the first posters for the upcoming "Dora the Explorer" live-action film Thursday, and they give us both a name and a look at the heroes.
- The name of the film is “Dora and the Lost City of Gold.”
- In one poster, we see a grown Dora with her hands on her hips, her friend Backpack on her back and her monkey Boots on her shoulder as she overlooks a jungle city. In the other, Dora looks over her shoulder at a crowd of other characters while appearing to hold her friend Map.
Trailer: The first trailer for the film will drop this Saturday night during the network’s Kids’ Choice Awards, according to Nickelodeon.
- As the film does not come out until August, it will likely be a small teaser trailer, according to ComicBook.com.

Dora the Explorer was a fixture on Nickelodeon from about 2000 to 2015, according to ComicBook, and she still plays a large role in their overall brand.
The TV series followed a young Dora as she embarks on adventures through forests and jungles with her friends.
“Dora and the Lost City of Gold” will hit theaters August 2.
