SALT LAKE CITY — Spike 150’s Golden Spike Sesquicentennial Celebration Ceremony and Festival is being held at the site where the railroads came together and the famous Golden Spike was driven — Golden Spike National Historical Park.

The park is located at 6200 North 22300 West, Promontory Summit. Advanced parking tickets for all attendees are required.

Tickets for May 10 and May 11 are sold out, but in an effort to accommodate as many people as possible, a stand-by list has been added to the Spike 150 website. Those who sign up will be notified to changes prior to May 10.

Tickets are still available for May 12. Go to spike150.org to get on the stand-by list and/or purchase May 12 tickets. Park hours are Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. If you don’t have a ticket for May 10, you can join others at a watch party at specific locations or watch from the comfort of your own home via KSL.

Exclusive previewing via broadcast begins at 11 a.m. on May 10 in Salt Lake City at Olympic Plaza in the Gateway, in Ogden on Historic 25th Street, and in Tremonton at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds, 320 N. 1000 West. KSL TV will begin live broadcasting the actual event at Promontory Summit starting at 11:30 a.m. on channel 5 and the KSLTV app. Highlights of other events:

Spencer Fox Eccles Treasures of the Transcontinental Railroad: A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view original artifacts from the Transcontinental Railroad era, including the 1862 Pacific Rail Act signed by President Lincoln, three of the last spikes driven into the railroad in 1869 and other the historic “Golden Spike” treasures. May 4 – June 24.

Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC Golden Spike Games: Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike while cheering on your favorite Utah soccer teams — Real Salt Lake and the Utah Royals FC. Both teams will be hosting Golden Spike-themed activities outside the Rio Tinto Stadium before the event and at halftime. The Gateway’s Golden Spike Celebration: Head down to Olympic Plaza at The Gateway to celebrate the Golden Spike’s 150th anniversary, Salt Lake style. Food trucks will be on site, and stage performances will rotate throughout the evening, including a thematic performance by the Deseret Experimental Opera Company.
