With BYU being the only college football team west of Texas playing this fall, an already passionate fanbase was especially glued into the Cougars’ season opener against Navy on Monday night.

Those fans were rewarded, as BYU ran away with a dominant 55-3 victory. In turn, fans, and others, rewarded Twitter with some good takes.

On a more serious note, a couple of people who were formerly in the Cougar program had particularly strong praise for BYU’s offense, a unit that set the tone early in the game, while other fans praised the defense and the team’s overall performance.

Former Cougar punter Jonny Linehan has already been featured here once, but we’ll give him his own section for other funny tweets he posted about punting throughout the night.

Looking back, maybe the win for BYU was a foregone conclusion after radio host Ben Criddle tweeted the video below on Monday morning of head coach Kalani Sitake from back during his playing days.
