A new “Star Wars” rumor suggests that Gina Carano might return to the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” — but not until Season 4. The series is reportedly producing its third season.
What happened between Gina Carano and Disney?
Carano, who played New Republic Marshal Cara Dune on the show, cut ties with Disney and Lucasfilm due to her social media posts, which often went viral and caused a heavy social media discussion.
- Many of the posts were centered around the COVID-19 vaccine, Democrats, face masks and voter fraud.
Disney and Carano went their separate ways after Carano posted an Instagram story that compared Jewish people being harmed in Nazi Germany to how people are treated in 2020 because of their political beliefs, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- Carano had reportedly been warned by Lucasfilm multiple times about her social media posts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
- Lucasfilm kept the actress employed because she was meant to appear in future “Star Wars” projects.
Is Gina Carano returning to ‘The Mandalorian’ soon?
Now, a new rumor has popped up that posits Carano will return for Season 4 of “The Mandalorian.” According to Inside the Magic, Season 4 will take place seven years after Season 3.
- Specifically, YouTuber and “Star Wars” leaker Mike Zeroh said Carano will return in Season 4, and Disney will make an announcement about her return by the end of 2021, according to We Got This Covered, a pop culture news site.
There have been rumors that Carano would return to “Star Wars” in some capacity. In fact, some “Star Wars” rumor sites suggested that Hollywood agents have spoken with Disney about bringing Carano back into the series, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- Carano teased a return to “The Mandalorian” in July. She posted a picture of a lone figure emerging from a cave and walking toward three bright suns. The picture resembled Luke Skywalker staring at the suns on Tatooine, the famous “Star Wars” planet.
It’s still unclear if Carano will return. But there’s still plenty of time to find out if Disney is planning to bring her back to the show.
