Chipotle Mexican Grill recently announced it is giving away 250,000 burritos to celebrate and honor the health care workers who are on the frontlines of the pandemic.

How health care workers can get a free burrito at Chipotle

Beginning April 29 at 11 a.m. MT, health care workers can sign up for a free burrito on Chipotle’s website. Those who sign up and provide proof of employment will receive an email within a week that contains a code for a free burrito, according to People.

The code can be redeemed until May 31, although the offer is on a first-come, first-served basis and lasts as long as supplies are available, People reported.

Other ways Chipotle is celebrating health care workers

National Nurses Day falls on May 6, and Chipotle has created a virtual thank-you wall on its site that allows customers to write messages of support and encouragement to heath care professionals.

“Given the events of the past year, we are once again bringing our fans together to show appreciation for the heroic efforts of the healthcare community,” said Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s chief marketing officer, in a statement.

The restaurant is also launching a new e-gift card program from April 28 through May 9, matching 10% of e-gift card purchases from its website and donating to the American Nurse Foundation, according to a news release.

Last year, the chain reportedly donated 200,000 burritos to health care facilities across the United States.
