David Archuleta is making a surprise appearance in Salt Lake City this month.

The singer and “American Idol” alum revealed on social media Thursday that he will be performing in a drive-in concert at the Utah State Fairpark on Oct. 23.

Archuleta, who is originally from Utah but currently lives in Nashville, also performed at a drive-in concert last month in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

“UTAH! I had to so much fun at my drive-in concert in Idaho last month that I’m doing it again... and this time it’s happening in SALT LAKE CITY,” Archuleta wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

While many concert venues around the country remain closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, drive-in concerts have become more popular. Artists as varied as Garth Brooks and Metallica performed drive-in concerts over the summer that were broadcast to screens at drive-in theaters around the country.

However, Archuleta performed live on stage during his drive-in concert in Idaho Falls, according to EastIdahoNews.com.

The drive-in concert will not be Archuleta’s last Utah appearance in 2020. He is also scheduled to appear at Tuacahn Amphitheatre in southern Utah in November.

Tickets for Archuleta’s drive-in concert in Salt Lake City go on sale Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. at Archuleta’s website, davidarchuleta.com.
