“Star Wars” star Daisy Ridley recently revealed whether she would return to the franchise a year after “The Rise of Skywalker” debuted.

What’s going on?

Ridley has been away from the “Star Wars” series for a year now, having wrapped up “The Rise of Skywalker” well before it debuted in December 2019.

Ridley recently told IGN that she doesn’t see a perfect path for her to return to “Star Wars” since “The Rise of Skywalker” wrapped up her character’s story.

“I think for me the beauty of ‘Episode IX’ is it ends with such hope and such potential. I just feel like that was Rey’s perfect ending. The big battle was in Episodes VII, VIII, and IX,” Ridley said. “I think really she’s probably running around the forest somewhere having a great time (following the events of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’).”

“I feel totally, totally satisfied with how that story finished. I just don’t know what else she could do that I didn’t have to do. Also, there are so many amazing characters in ‘Star Wars,’ that it’s sort of an amazing thing. I was watching the new episode of ‘Mandalorian,’ and it’s just like the places it can go beyond even where it is now is so exciting.”

Lucasfilm defends controversial Baby Yoda moment from ‘The Mandalorian’

John Boyega, who starred opposite Ridley as the character Finn, said that he was unlikely to return to the “Star Wars” franchise. But Boyega told Yahoo! Entertainment what would bring him back to a galaxy far, far away — filming the rumored “Duel of the Fates” film, which was the scrapped script from Colin Trevorrow for ‘Episode IX.’

And he said an animated show could bring him back, as I wrote about for Deseret News.

  • “I’m a ‘Mandalorian’ fan, so Lucasfilm is doing very well with the TV shows,” he told Yahoo! Entertainment. “An animated show would be dope! We could do it from home.”
