“Star Wars” novelist Alan Dean Foster said in an interview with Midnight’s Edge that Disney cut out an iconic “Star Wars” line from his novelization of “The Force Awakens.”
What happened:
Foster, who wrote “The Force Awakens” novel, recently revealed a slew of details about his experience working with Disney, saying the company made him change things about his novel.
One of the changes includes cutting a line of dialogue that would have linked the sequel trilogy to the original trilogy, according to WDWNT.
- “There’s a scene in the film and in the book where Rey has come aboard the Millennium Falcon, and Han Solo can’t get things to work, and she fixes it. Han says something to the effect of, ‘good work’ or ‘good job,’ reluctantly, he says it. And then I had him say, ‘Don’t get cocky, kid.’ Which, of course, is a throwback to what he says to Luke in the first film. I thought that was a wonderful way of connecting the character to the first film and the first story. I thought fans would love that, and they made me take it out.”
Han Solo’s original appearance
This isn’t the only reported change to Solo in “The Force Awakens.” Lucasfilm artist Christian Alzmann, who works as the visual effects art director for Industrial Light & Magic, shared concept art that showed Han Solo at a cantina, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- Rey and Finn would have found him as a drunkard instead of meeting Han Solo when the former war general docked their ship.
