SALT LAKE CITY — Han Solo’s return to the “Star Wars” universe might have been different than what we saw in “The Force Awakens.”

Lucasfilm artist Christian Alzmann, who works as the visual effects art director for Industrial Light & Magic, released concept art online that shows how we might have originally seen Solo reintroduced to the “Star Wars” universe.

As you might recall, Solo and Chewbacca tracked down the Millennium Falcon with Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) on board.

But in the original concept art, it appears Solo was spending some time at a cantina with a few drunkards.

  • “This was a concept of how we might meet Han in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ Out-drinking everyone at a cantina,” Alzmann wrote on Instagram.

See the concept art below.

As you can see, Solo sits alone at the bar with one person knocked out from (presumably) too much drinking. The scene is eerily similar to how we first met him in “A New Hope,” where he was hanging out at the Mos Eisley Cantina.

One question: Where is Chewbacca? Well, SyFy Wire has a theory: “The question is where Chewie might be in this image. Surely Han can't actually outdrink him. Perhaps he was off in another corner, flirting with Maz Kanata …”
