The series finale of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and the series premiere of a show tied to “The Mandalorian” will both arrive on Star Wars Day, Disney Plus announced Wednesday morning.
Disney Plus announced the series finale of “The Clone Wars” will air on May 4, which is commonly considered Star Wars Day, or May the Fourth Be With You. The finale will air a few days early from its original air date, which was scheduled for Friday, May 8.
- The series finale will end the seven-season run for “The Clone Wars,” leading right into the “Star Wars” film “Revenge of the Sith.”
Disney Plus also announced the debut of a new show called “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian,” which will be “an unprecedented look at the making of the series which quickly became a pop culture phenomenon after premiering in November.”
- The eight-episode documentary will explore “a different facet of the first live-action ‘Star Wars’ television show through interviews, never-before-seen footage,” according to Disney Plus.
- “The Mandalorian” showrunner Jon Favreau will host the documentary.
- Favreau said: “’Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian’ is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how ‘The Mandalorian’ came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season 1,” said Favreau. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.”

- The announcements come one day after Disney Plus released early photos and a clip from the upcoming episode of “The Clone Wars,” which will center around the Siege of Mandalore — one of the biggest unseen battles in “Star Wars” history.
- “The Mandalorian” debuted in November to huge fanfare. The episodic show centered around a bounty hunter named Mando, who traveled around the country with a young creature named The Child (who was nicknamed “Baby Yoda” by the masses). The show concluded in December. A second season will debut later this year.
