Warner Bros will rerelease Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy this summer ... overseas.
Nolan’s trilogy — “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises” — will be rereleased in Hong Kong and Taiwan beginning on May 29. The films will be released over a several-week period, according to Deadline.
In Hong Kong, “Batman Begins” will open on June 4 with “The Dark Knight” coming in June 11 and “The Dark Knight Rises” on June 18.
Hong Kong reopened its theaters two weeks ago with social distancing guidelines, according to Forbes. What happens to Hong Kong “will be seen as a broader indicator of what to expect. Are people willing to go back to the movies? Do they miss the cinematic experience, or are they happy watching movies at home.”
Warner Bros. is no different in watching what happens with these releases.
“This is all in keeping with Warner Bros’ plans to bring back a number of catalogue titles around the world as cinemas ease into operations following closures forced by COVID-19,” Deadline reported.
The film series will rereleased as a setup for Nolan’s next film, “Tenet,” which is slated to be released on July 17. “Tenet” is slated to be the first major blockbuster film to be released in theaters amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Dark Knight” film was rereleased in 2018 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its release in 2008., according to Variety.
