Disney Plus earned its first Emmy awards last week thanks to “The Mandalorian,” which racked up a series of victories.
“The Mandalorian” won awards in the following categories:
- Outstanding special visual effects.
- Outstanding cinematography for a single camera series.
- Outstanding sound mixing for a comedy or drama series.
- Outstanding sound editing for a comedy or drama series.
- Outstanding production design for a narrative program.
“The Mandalorian” has been nominated for 19 awards, including outstanding drama, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
- The show will compete against other top dramas like “Better Call Saul,” “The Crown,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Killing Eve,” “Ozark,” “Succession” and “Stranger Things.”
- “The Mandalorian” also received nominations for best cinematography, best production design, best guest actor (Giancarlo Esposito), and best original dramatic score.
