The invitation you’ve been waiting for has arrived.
A new trailer for the “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” special, which debuts on HBO Max on Jan. 1, has been released.
The trailer opens with an image of the wizarding newspaper, The Daily Prophet, with the headline, “Hogwarts welcomes back alumni.”
Other actors from the movie receive an invitation to the reunion until we see a glimpse of Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, at the 9 3/4 platform, which draws the teaser to an end, per HITC.
Co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint will also join, along with other cast members from all eight “Harry Potter” movies, to celebrate 20 years of the series.
Some other names include Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Ian Hart and filmmaker Chris Columbus, according to CNN.
The reunion will “celebrate the unparalleled legacy of the Harry Potter film franchise and its indelible impact on the hearts, minds, and imaginations of families and fans around the world,” per the report.
Series author J.K. Rowling won’t be present, though she has acted as a consultant for films and other related projects in the past.
The reason for her absence remains unexplained.
