Downtown Disney reopened its outdoor dining over the weekend after California lifted restrictions, KABC reports.
What happened
Customers flocked to Downtown Disney on Friday and Saturday to embrace outdoor eating now that outdoor dining is allowed in California again, according to The Orange County Register.
- Outdoor restaurants on Buena Vista Street in California Adventure opened, too.
- The rest of California Adventure remains closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
- Per KABC, people need to wear face masks and practice social distancing while eating at these establishments. People need to go through a temperature check when they go through security, too.
Context
Downtown Disney restaurants closed back on Dec. 7 after California added a new ban on outdoor dining due to a spike in COVID-19 cases, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- Disneyland Resort added signs to the Downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street to help explain to people that they could no longer eat or drink there, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
Disneyland has remained closed since March because of the coronavirus pandemic. The park was going to reopen in July 2020 to celebrate the park’s 65th anniversary. But California did not issue guidelines for theme parks in time. However, the park announced Buena Vista Street at California Adventure would reopen Nov. 19, as I explained for the Deseret News.
