“American Idol” winner Iam Tongi will be headlining two nights of concerts this August for the 2026 Utah Area YSA Conference, organized for a fourth year by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tongi is a 21-year-old Hawaiian-born singer and a Latter-day Saint. He won season 21 of “American Idol” in 2023 and believes music is about fun and transformation, according to the conference’s concert event page.

“I know I’m supposed to be doing this, and sometimes that’s all I know,” Tongi said, according to the event page. “This is what I was meant for.”

Tongi will perform Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14-15, as part of the 2026 Utah Area YSA Conference, to be held Aug. 14-16.

The conference’s concerts will run 8-9:30 p.m. both nights and will take place at the main stage of the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, the same place the rest of the conference will be held.

A Billboard-charting, Christian collective named “the King will come” will also perform in the concerts. The Christian collective of artists, songwriters and creatives is united by a “shared passion for spreading hope, love and unity,” according to the concert event page.

Space for each performance at the Salt Palace Convention Center will be limited.

Registration for the conference is available here and asks young adults to choose which concert night they plan to attend so a spot is reserved for them.

The conference for young single adults, ages 18-25, is themed “Together in Christ” and will also include Christ-centered devotionals, interactive workshops, service projects and social events, according to a news release on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
