SALT LAKE CITY — Utahn and PGA Tour standout Tony Finau announced via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon that he has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open this week in Las Vegas.

Finau said the positive result came “under PGA TOUR on-site testing protocols,” and he is now self-quarantining.

“I am feeling well, and am otherwise in good spirits,” he wrote. “I look forward to returning to action as soon as I am able, and I wish everyone at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open a great week ahead!”

In a statement, the PGA Tour noted that the 31-year-old Finau “will have the PGA Tour’s full support throughout his self-isolation period under CDC guidelines.”

Finau last played in the U.S. Open in mid-September, where he finished in a tie for eighth with four others.
